Start Your Search NowLacy Foundries is a historic and family-owned foundry business with a rich legacy spanning five generations since its founding in 1865 in Baltimore, Maryland. Originating shortly after the Civil War, the company was established by five molders who transitioned from military service to the industrial iron business, marking the beginning of a new era in cast iron manufacturing. Over the decades, Lacy Foundries has grown from a small iron foundry into a comprehensive one-stop shop offering patterns, castings, and machining services. The company specializes in a wide range of casting methods including sand castings, centrifugal castings, continuous cast products, die casting, and investment castings. Their material expertise covers gray iron, Ni hard iron, Ni resist iron, ductile iron, manganese bronze, bearing bronze, aluminum bronze, aluminum, silicon bronze, brass, carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel, with casting weights ranging from 1 pound to 20,000 pounds and quantities from single pieces to thousands. Throughout its history, Lacy Foundries has adapted to changing industrial demands, expanding its capabilities during major historical events such as World Wars I and II by producing marine castings, steam cylinders, pistons, and propellers. The company has also diversified into bronze and aluminum foundries to meet evolving market needs. Despite challenges including a significant fire in 1988 and the eventual closure of its original Baltimore plant due to urban development pressures, Lacy Foundries has maintained its commitment to quality and service by evolving into a brokerage model. Under the leadership of Joe Jr., the company now partners with a network of specialized foundries, machine shops, and pattern shops to deliver the finest quality castings with competitive pricing and exceptional customer service. Lacy Foundries is deeply rooted in the community and industry, with leadership actively involved in professional organizations such as the Non-Ferrous Founders Society and the American Foundrymen’s Society. The company’s enduring success is a testament to the dedication of five generations of the Lacy family and their loyal employees, reflecting a tradition of innovation, quality craftsmanship, and customer-focused solutions in the foundry industry.
